DLS Assignment

Our assignment this week was to to take pictures of 5 subjects and pose them in different ways.  I decided that since I was taking pictures already this week, I would use 5 “still” objects.

I will preface these pictures with a little background on my subjects.  Mr. and Mrs. Piggy McPiggerson have a set of twins and have also adopted a goose (I did not have 3 little piggies).  They wanted pictures before moving off their family farm as they do not feel that it’s a safe environment to raise their children.  I have to agree…

DLS Family Assignment

April 11, 2008 - 11:19 pm matlus - Christine, I love that you've made a story out of your assignment! You get an A+ for that, except since it wasn't part of this assignment it's not going to count :). And didn't you mean that Mr. & Mrs. McPiggerson didn't have 3 little piggy’s but had two instead (instead of you didn't...)? After looking at the picture I felt that you should have had one shot in which the fox is eyeing the "family" from behind the tractor and then another one in which he's closer. My favorite on is No. 3 (kiddies up on the tractor and mama and papa getting some time together). I love how you've changed the perspective on your logo to make it look like it was painted on the barn. Sadly, the barn was missing from the background in most shots. It would have made for a great backdrop. In fact, to make things more real, you should re-shoot outdoors (about 6 in the evening) making sure to get grass as the "floor" of your photos rather than your kitchen table. That's just a thought by the way. I get the sense you take your photography seriously. So was using an aperture of 6 intentional? I guess you were really close to your subjects in order to get the desired life like size so you were getting a decently shallow DOF with f/6?

April 12, 2008 - 9:19 am Tanya - OMG Christine the last photo had me howling. I love your concept it was so fun!

April 15, 2008 - 5:03 pm Lisa - These are awesome! It's amazing how the silliest things work - I was actually picturing this crazy little farm family on a real farm. I love the light on the picture of just the pig in the shadow of the barn. They are so cool!

April 16, 2008 - 4:22 pm Elena - Awesome! I'm super impressed how you turned the pigs into an entire story! Creative genius
